Bob & Bob
Unbeknownst to The Dark Bob’s highbrow “Fine Art” friends and colleagues, the artist is secretly a Sci-Fi nerd. He even makes Sci-Fi artworks that no one has ever seen. Until now!
Our Life in Space, 2262 AD. Photoshop. Two Mega-Pod spaceships (each housing over 100.000 people) sail past the beautiful and incandescent “light island” called Lumetica.
A Narrow Escape. This Mega-Pod narrowly escaped a friction related detonation of space gases. These huge city-ships depend on an astute Captain who can think fast and steer clear of such unpredictable threats.
The Vacation Pods. Even space dwellers need to get away. Top right is the Orion Hilton and below that the less expensive Nebula Sheraton. They are seen here on a cruise thru the “Spiral Islands of Nocturn”, a popular destination were dreams regularly happen during waking hours.
A Mother Pod. Small “Station-Pods” cling close to the Mother Pod for supplies. These Mother Pods also provide for medical supplies as well as educational, recreational and other services. The small planet below is used for harvesting “Pink Matter” which is essential in the production of synthetic Silica. This compound is then used to replicate a convincing facsimile of Earth’s popular beverage, the “milk shake”.
An unexpected reality of space travel is a phenomenon called “A Space Mirage”. Certain plankton-like particles will mutate for survival by mimicking objects that have entered its orbit. What looks like a space ship (top, center) is actually an optical recreation of the ship below.
In a dense space population, it is often necessary to have high-speed “police” pods to respond to, and investigate, any irregularities. They are equipped with research laboratories as well state-of-the-art medical services and a fully functioning prison system.
Harvesting mineral agents from the atmosphere is essential in guaranteeing the survival of the populated space pods. These elements are refined and used in nearly all of the required organic functions – such as farming, medical treatments and paint.
This vintage (2122 AD) “Personal Transporter” is a rare site in 2262 AD. Oddly enough they have become quite collectable and are fetching higher and higher prices at auction.
Under attack!!! This medium sized colony is under attack from a space virus. As the virus condenses in size it becomes visibly focused. This allows scientists to activate “resistance protocols” in a very targeted manner. This reduces infection and virtually eliminates hospitalization.
Duck Rogers. One of the first Community-Pods to go beyond our galaxy was the venerable ship “Duck Rogers” named in honor of the 20th century cartoon character Daffy Duck. The only other cartoon character to be honored in this manner was Superman. Sadly, the Superman-Pod met with doom in the devastating, but spectacularly beautiful, meteor shower of 2038 AD.
